Giancarlo Stanton is off to an uneven start this season, but no one should be panicking yet.
After hitting two home runs in his first game with the New York Yankees, he struck out five times in his first game in front of the home crowd.
After his fifth strikeout, the 2017 NL MVP received his first “Bronx cheer,” as boos poured out from the stands of the New York crowd.
“It’s not ideal,” Stanton told reporters after the game, handling the New York media the best way possible. Stanton even drew a few laughs, making fun of himself for his putrid performance.
Fast forward 18 hours, after being booed in his home debut by his own fans, Stanton dug into the box and tagged a ball 118mph and sent it 458 feet away from home plate and into the left-field seats.

Stanton didn’t crumble under pressure, didn’t allow the bleacher creatures in the Bronx to rattle him, nope, he merely stepped up the next day and shut everyone up rather quickly.
There was a lot of talk about how Stanton would handle the spotlight, and luckily for him, his first test came very early on, and he (literally) crushed it.
Many people were concerned about the similarities between the acquisition of Giancarlo Stanton, and the addition of Alex Rodriguez back in 2003.
After opening day, the similarities grew larger, as A-Rod himself received a few “Bronx cheers” back in his day.
A-Rod let the New York media ruin him, although his circumstance was a bit different, he let the fans and the media get the best of him.

Giancarlo Stanton in his very early first test showed no signs of letting anything or anyone get the best of him. Bottom line, fear not Yankee fans the 2017 National League MVP will be just fine in the pinstripes.
