2018 NBA Mock Draft: The summer is decision time
A quick look over the Bulls’ roster will show just how little promise they have on the wing. Paul Zipser and Denzel Valentine have been figured out by defenses that exploit their lack of athleticism, while Justin Holiday and David Nwaba could each leave town this summer. They are in an interesting position.
On the other hand, they do have some more interesting long-term prospects at other positions, including Kris Dunn and Zach LaVine in the backcourt and Lauri Markkanen as a stretch big. The need to find a wing to grow with the current core is important, especially considering the Bulls have their own pick at the top of this draft.
That means they are yet another candidate to trade a pick in June. Could Chicago pair Nwaba, ahead of his impending free agency, with the No. 18 pick to take another crack in the lottery? Or perhaps for better long-term chances, some team might be interested in Cristiano Felicio, signed to a four-year deal, along with the No .18 pick to move up a couple spots. Washington might be interested in a deal like that at No. 16.
After being hamstrung by the Jimmy Butler situation for two years, Chicago suddenly has the flexibility to rebuild quickly. A high-level outcome for Knox could jumpstart that process even further.
