Here are five things that you may have missed during the NBA week.

When I first embarked on this journey of writing a weekly NBA piece, there are an abundance of things I couldn’t imagine writing about. Over the course of the season, I’ve written about some whacky things, which is why the NBA is one of the most fun leagues out there. However, this week has some headlines I’d never even dream of writing, let alone about the NBA. For example, a feud between LeBron James and Nick Saban over recorded barber shop talks. Seriously, you cannot make stuff like this up. Referees had it bad this week as one was elbowed in a scuffle and another was spanked by Boston’s Marcus Morris following an ejection.

Or how about a draft event held for NBA 2K? NBA Commissioner Adam Silver attended an event where the NBA kicked off its newly formed esports league. The NBA is the first major American league to embrace esports as they’ve done, drafting the best NBA 2K players from around the globe to play for each team’s esports squad. Staying on the topic of video games, Ben Simmons is at it again. Simmons jokingly asked Karl-Anthony Towns about his upcoming opponent following an incident last week. Simmons jokingly told Towns he should play PUBG with him as Towns had nothing to worry about in the Hawks. As a result, Towns dropped a franchise record 56 points.

On a more serious note, murmurs of a Kawhi Leonard trade have now turned into full-fledged rumors. Paul George has a messed up shot, the Thunder are struggling as of late. Jimmy Butler is dangerously close to returning from injury as the T-Wolves hang on for dear life in the playoff race as the West is as close as ever. Here are five other things you may have missed from around the NBA this week.
