No, the Undertaker did not show up at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony

One of the theories about the potential John Cena-Undertaker match at WrestleMania 34 came and went quickly without anything happening on Friday night.

If, as most WWE fans and pundits believe, John Cena and the Undertaker are going to do battle at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans on Sunday, it’s going to come down to the very last minute. There was some school of thought that something for the match might be set up at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony on Friday night at the Smoothie King Center, but that was not to be.

The fuel for this theory is that Kid Rock was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as the celebrity wing member of the Class of 2018. He was inducted by Triple H, but one of the reasons the rocker made it in at all was that his song “American Badass” was used by the Undertaker during his biker phase, becoming nearly synonymous with WWE for several years.

With the mention of that song and rumors that since he’s already left his hat and trenchcoat in the ring once, maybe the Undertaker would come back for WrestleMania 34 in his biker persona, it wasn’t that much of a stretch to think he could show up on Friday to both support Kid Rock and answer Cena’s challenge.

That didn’t happen, as Kid Rock simply gave his speech — by far the shortest of the night to that point — and walked off the stage to a good amount of applause. What does that mean? Well, not much, probably. The Hall of Fame theory, while a fun one, was never all that likely to pan out. The ceremony isn’t 100 percent serious, as the Dudleys proved by putting a stagehand through a table, but WWE doesn’t use it to advance angles.
