Outfield, High End Spend

Bryce Harper, $5,300

.462/.553/1.154 with 8 HR in 39 at-bats

It’s nearly impossible to choose which high priced stud you want in the lineup tonight. Without taking an extreme risk with a pitcher, you can really only pick one of Harper or Arenado. If your read this column, you know that generally we play Harper when he sees Teheran because your’e likely getting a home run. There was good reason Harper was over 60 percent owned in cash games the last time he got this matchup. It’s going to be interesting to see how it plays out tonight. There’s a legitimate alternative with Arenado and he’s due for a monster game sooner than later. I can already see I’m going to have a hard time picking this evening.

Also Consider – A.J. Pollock, $3,900 and Michael Conforto, $3,800

Mid-Range

Dee Gordon, $3,500

0 at-bats vs. Jake Junis

Gordon has settled in nicely atop the Seattle Mariners lineup after an offseason trade. He’s hitting well in front of bats like Jean Segura and Robinson Cano, which means he has huge upside for stolen bases and runs. Opposing starter Jakob Junis could be a breakout candidate this season but isn’t someone we’re looking to actively avoid. Junis has a career fly ball ratio over 40 percent and a hard contact rate of over 35 percent. It’s not likely that Gordon hits a home run but his floor of getting a ball in play is higher than normal. Anytime that’s the case, Gordon is in play.

Also Consider – Josh Reddick, $3,500 and Tommy Pham, $3,300

Value

Curtis Granderson, $2,400

0 at-bats vs. Dylan Bundy

Is it a great matchup? Not really because Orioles starter Dylan Bundy has looked phenomenal in his first two starts. Still, Granderson is hitting well over .350 and is on the good side of the splits. In the short sample size of this season, the grizzled veteran has been excellent with an OPS over .800 and a wOBA over .390. Bundy can pitch extremely well and Granderson could still be worth his price tag tonight. If he helps you fit Arenado or Harper, that’s all the more reason to do it.

Also Consider – Manuel Margot, $2,400
