Barcelona took a decisive step to qualify for the Champions League semifinals with a 4-1 win at home last Wednesday. With the Liga title all but assured, the Catalans had the luxury of resting key players such as Jordi Alba, Andres Iniesta and Paulinho at the weekend against Leganes. Lionel Messi had himself a hat-trick and appears to be in great form even by his standards. Barcelona will also get back Sergio Busquets, who missed the Liga game due to injury.  Without any injuries of note and taking a three-goal advantage to Rome, it’s hard to see Barcelona letting the qualification slip away.

Roma have a seemingly impossible task ahead of them considering the absences of Radja Nainngolan and Diego Perotti, both doubtful to feature,  as well as the first leg scoreline. The Romans will take small consolation from the fact that they haven’t given up any goals at home in the Champions League this season. Facing the likes of Messi and Luis Suarez may well put an end to that run. The Romans will need a clean sheet as well as the best versions of Edin Dzeko and Stephaan El Sharawy to stand any chance.
