The moment it happened, everyone knew that there wouldn’t be a better dunk this season. Giannis jumped over Tim Hardaway Jr. like it was nothing, hurdling a 6’7″ wing in transition to finish an alley-oop dunk, in Madison Square Garden, against the Knicks.
We are all Gus Johnson, releasing a guttural cry from our lips, an incomprehensible expression that happens when a basketball player does something that our souls take pure delight in. It’s a Hall of Fame moment, a legendary dunk, and is the unanimous dunk of the year.
To quote Antetokounmpo, yes, “It was just a good play.”
