4. Cleveland Browns

The Browns are unlikely to draft Mayfield with the first pick. That being said, if they want to continue with Sashi Brown’s ways of trading back, they can nab Mayfield with the fourth pick.

The fit would be a unique one. Mayfield’s comfort in a timing offense would make be question his connection with deep-ball threats Josh Gordon and Corey Coleman. Outside of them, he and Jarvis Landry could make magic together. Landry is a high-volume receiver who will thrive with Mayfield’s accuracy and timing getting him the ball in space. This will maximize Landry’s ability to run after the catch.

Cleveland is also home to the best possible mentor for Mayfield. Tyrod Taylor is as level-headed as they come, thrives on throwing the ball underneath, and is pretty accurate. His personality can help to mitigate any aspects of Mayfield’s that the team may question. Not to mention, he and Mayfield have very similar skill sets meaning two things. One, Taylor can help demonstrate how to translate those skills to the NFL, and two, the offense built will always suit both of them.

Mayfield’s unwillingness to lose would be a welcome sight in Cleveland. After a 1-31 record the last two years, his determination could help turn things around. He wouldn’t settle for the mediocrity that has plagued this team, doing everything in his power to fix that.

A lack of guarantees about Mayfield’s ability to maximize all of Cleveland’s weapons keeps them from being higher on this list.
