The Arizona State Sun Devils will have their first spring game under new head coach Herm Edwards on Friday night.

Several programs around college football made sweeping changes after the 2017 season. The Arizona State Sun Devils perhaps underwent one of the more unusual changes with their program. The school brought Herm Edwards on board to oversee a new type of system.

In this CEO-like environment, the Sun Devils have created, they are certainly taking a different approach to running the program. Nonetheless, Edwards will have a big job in front of him as he takes over a team that won seven games the previous season.

On Friday night, the Sun Devils will have their annual spring game. The game will be held at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium. Sun Devil Stadium is currently undergoing the next phase of its construction process and is not available to be played on yet.

While Edwards arrival was an outside the box hire, he brought in some exciting recruits that will hopefully play key roles early for the program. At the quarterback spot, he has a familiar face with Manny Wilkins returning.

The Sun Devils have had a new offensive coordinator every year Wilkins has been the quarterback and he will have to adjust to yet another system. Still, he’s one of the most experienced quarterbacks in the conference and will be relied upon heavily.

Seeing a first look at what Edwards and his staff have worked on will be interesting. Keep an eye on a new-look defense led by defensive coordinator Danny Gonzales. He built a strong unit during his time with San Diego State and will look to build something dynamic with his new core of players.
