1. Manchester United 1999-2000

They may not have gone unbeaten, but no side has been as impressive as Manchester United were at the turn of the century. From a purely a Premier League standpoint, it’s perhaps Alex Ferguson’s greatest ever side, and unsurprisingly tops the list of the greatest Premier League title winners.

Despite the Gunners strengthening their squad with the addition of Thierry Henry, they weren’t United’s main challengers, as David O’Leary’s Leeds side knocked the Red Devils off top spot at Christmas. However, they couldn’t resist United’s challenge and a run of 11 straight victories brought a sixth Premier League title in eight seasons.

When United ended the season in May 2000, they had won the title the earliest it had ever been won, with four games to spare, they had won it by the biggest ever margin, 18 points, and they had set the record for most points and most goals in a Premier League season, 91 and 97 respectively.

Containing the talents of David Beckham, Roy Keane, Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke and Ryan Giggs, this Manchester United side had the individuals to back up their claim as the best Premier League title winners ever.
