5 reasons Roma can win the Champions League

3. Edin Dzeko has been electric
For any Cinderella club to have a shot at the ultimate prize, they need at least one otherworldly talent to tip the scales in their favor. For Roma this season, Edin Dzeko is just that player. The Bosnian forward is playing well, and his continued productivity is critical to Roma’s chances of booking tickets to Kyiv.
After leading Serie A in scoring last season, Dzeko has continued his run of good form into the current campaign. Dzeko’s opener against Barcelona gave him six goals in the tournament this season. The forward also has 14 goals in Serie A in 2017-2018, putting him at 20 in all competitions this season. He’ll need to find the back of the net a few more times for Roma to hoist the European Cup.
Last year Dzeko really came into his own, scoring eight goals in Europa League play. Since coming over from Manchester City, the Bosnian goalpoacher has scored 67 goals in 101 appearances for the Italians. Dzeko has the ability to break down opposing defenses both with finesse and with physicality.
When Dzeko is operating at a high level, the rest of the Roma squad feeds off him. The midfield will need to get the ball to the Bosnian consistently in space and in dangerous positions. From there, it will all come down to whether Dzeko can convert those opportunities into goals. If he can, Roma are a legitimate threat to win the Champions League.
