The Bruce Arians Era has come to an end in the desert. Are the Arizona Cardinals rebuilding or primed to be a playoff contender this fall?

It appears to be start-over time for the Arizona Cardinals, who watched head coach Bruce Arians retire after four seasons with the franchise.

Enter Steve Wilks, most recently the defensive coordinator of the Carolina Panthers. Reigning general manager Steve time has had a lot of work to do this offseason, in particular looking for an entire new group of quarterbacks. Like Arians. Carson Palmer also walked away from the game while Drew Stanton (Cleveland Browns)), Blaine Gabbert (Tennessee Titans) and Matt Barkley (Cincinnati Bengals) are all now with other teams.

All told, it has been a very active offseason for all of the teams in the NFC West. So are the Cards capable of keeping pace with the other three clubs?

Home: Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, Oakland Raiders, Washington Redskins

Away: Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota Vikings

Here is how the complete schedule, week-by-week, lays out for the Cardinals:

Week 1: vs. WAS
Week 2: at LAR
Week 3: vs. CHI
Week 4: vs. SEA
Week 5: at SF
Week 6: at MIN
Week 7: vs. DEN (Thursday)
Week 8: vs. SF
Week 9: BYE
Week 10: at KC
Week 11: vs. OAK
Week 12: at LAC
Week 13: at GB
Week 14: vs. DET
Week 15: at ATL
Week 16: vs. LAR
Week 17: at SEA

The focus for the Cardinals during free agency has clearly been the offensive side of the football. Keim added quarterbacks Sam Bradford and Mike Glennon, as well as wide receivers Cobi Hamilton and Brice Butler. Meanwhile, guard Justin Pugh and tackle Andre Smith look to bolster a front that was a big issue in 2017.

The Arizona Cardinals may also be looking for a young quarterback in the upcoming draft. In any case, things are going to be a lot different in the desert as the team undergoes a major transition.
