Houston Texans 2018 schedule release: Games, dates and times
After winning back-to-back AFC South titles, the Houston Texans fell to the division basement this past season. Are they capable of bouncing back?
It’s somewhat easy to forget that the Houston Texans entered 2017 winners of the AFC South each of the previous two years and four times dating back to 2011. But things didn’t go well from the get-go for Bill O’Brien’s squad.
The Texans were humbled in Week 1 by the eventual AFC South Champion Jacksonville Jaguars. And the NFL only got a brief glimpse of quarterback Deshaun Watson, who played 26 quarters of exciting football before going down for the season with a knee injury in practice. Add in the October losses of J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus and you have a 4-12 showing and a last-place finish in the division. And now O’Brien and company enter the upcoming season with a six-game losing streak.
Home: Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants
Away: Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Denver Broncos, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins
Here is how the Texans’ complete schedule, week-by-week, lays out:
Week 1: at NE
Week 2: at TEN
Week 3: vs. NYG
Week 4: at IND
Week 5: vs. DAL
Week 6: vs. BUF
Week 7: at JAX
Week 8: vs. MIA
Week 9: at DEN
Week 10: BYE
Week 11: at WAS
Week 12: vs. TEN
Week 13: vs. CLE
Week 14: vs. IND
Week 15: at NYJ
Week 16: at PHI
Week 17: vs. JAX
One of the areas the Texans needed to address in free agency was the offensive line. Hence the signings of tackle Seantrel Henderson (Buffalo Bills) and guards Zach Fulton (Kansas City Chiefs) and Senio Kelemete (New Orleans Saints). But the addition that has garnered the most attention is safety Tyrann Mathieu, late of the Arizona Cardinals.

September always brings new hope, and this is still a very talented Houston Texans’ team that very easily could jump right back into the playoff race.
