10 best games on 2018 NFL schedule
1. Los Angeles Rams vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Last but not least, we have the game that very well should’ve been the NFC Championship game in the 2017 postseason had things gone a little better for the Los Angeles Rams last season. In this case, it very well could turn into the NFC title game for the 2018 season instead.
This game already featured two of the best teams in the entire league when the Rams and Philadelphia Eagles squared off last year, and it’s crazy to think both teams have actually improved from when they got together in Los Angeles in December.
For starters, the Eagles won Super Bowl LII with a backup quarterback after an impressive regular season. The reason they played with a backup quarterback? Their starter Carson Wentz went down for the year after an injury he suffered against the Rams. Now, they’ll get Wentz back with a stacked roster to work with.
On the other end, the Rams have completely loaded up on defense, specifically investing in their secondary to make more of a run in 2018. Defense is starting to become a dominant trend for the top teams in the NFC, and the Rams decided to invest heavily in theirs for the next few years.
Next: Best NFL player from each state
Now, we’ll have a battle of two of the best defenses in the NFL both going up against two of the most high-powered offenses that the league has to offer. The whole conference is loaded, with the Rams fighting for first place in a competitive NFC West alongside the San Francisco 49ers, but these two teams have a solid chance of coming out as the top two seeds in the NFC by the time 2018 is over.
If that’s the case, this game would be a preview for the NFC Championship, and their battle in the regular season could have major implications for seeding and homefield advantage throughout the playoffs.
