Catcher/First Base

Hanley Ramirez, $4,200

.111/.111/.222 with 0 HR in 9 at-bats

The Red Sox get to head to Oakland and are as hot as they come. They get starter Kendall Graveman who has just been destroyed so far this season. What’s weird is many of his metrics suggest that he should be better than his ERA suggests. At the same time, Ramirez is hitting righty pitching at an excellent clip and Graveman can’t get righties out so far. He’s giving up a .398 wOBA. I’m not sure what to make of Graveman at this point and may not go full bore Red Sox. His hard contact rate and ground ball rate suggest positive progression is coming for him. Still, Ramirez is firmly in play even at his higher salary.

Also Consider – Anthony Rizzo, $4,000(pretty cheap for Coors Field) and Jose Martinez, $3,800

Mid-Range

Justin Bour, $3,300

.000/.000/.000 with 0 HR in 2 at-bats

Bour has some serious raw power and he has a vey solid chance to hit a ball a very long way tonight. Not only does he hit right-handed pitching well through his career with a .866 OPS, .234 ISO and a .364 wOBA, opposing starter Jhoulys Chacin is getting smoked by lefty hitters in a limited sample this season. He’s giving up an OPS over 1.000 and a wOBA over .464. The numbers may not be indicative of what Chacin is capable of because this season is way out side his career normals. Until he gets things figured out, players with Bour’s power in Miller Park could be worth a play.

Also Consider – Yadier Molina, $3,400 and Joey Gallo, $3,500

Value

Yonder Alonso, $2,600

.000/.250/.000 with 0 HR in 3 at-bats

This is going to be a theme through this article, but a Cleveland Indians stack of left-handed hitters could be fairly sneaky and really pay off. Bundy has very poor career numbers against lefty hitters. His strikeouts drop by almost 10 percent and he’s giving up a .330 wOBA to lefties while Alonso hits righties well in his career with a .276 average and .333 wOBA. The Indians offense has been very cold so far but Alonso is the type of bat you’ll need to find if you want to play Kershaw tonight.

Also Consider – J.T Realmuto, $2,500
