Outfield, High End Spend

Christian Yelich, $4,100

.333/.333/.600 with 1 HR in 15 at-bats

I certainly can’t fault you for playing guys like Mookie Betts or Rhys Hoskins, but the highest priced outfielder that catches my eye tonight is Yelich. I refuse to believe that Jason Hammel is as good as some stats have shown so far this season. Yelich profiles as a great cash game play because he’s so well-rounded, he can score points in a ton of ways. He’s also been tearing up right-handed pitching in 2018 with marks of a .333 average, 1.050 OPS, .250 ISO (which is impressive for him) and a .446 wOBA. There’s relative safety in Yelich with many of the top end outfielders in “poor” matchups.

Also Consider – Tommy Pham, $4,100 and Andrew Benintendi, $4,000

Mid-Range

Shin-Too Choo, $3,500

.188/.188/.563 with 2 HR’s in 16 at-bats

The Rangers get to face Kendall Graveman and his double-digit ERA and Choo seems to be just a hair too cheap for this matchup. Choo hasn’t hit righties extremely well to this point but Graveman can’t buy a strikeout or anything else positive so far. I don’t know if I’d go with a Rangers stack because their lineup is so beat-up. However, Choo is a great mid-range play and could score points in a bunch of different ways tonight.

Also Consider – Leonys Martin, $3,600, Mallex Smith, $3,200 and Matt Joyce, $2,800

Value

Rajai Davis, $2,100

.304/.373/.565 with 1 HR in 46 at-bats

There’s really only one reason to play Davis tonight and that’s for the stolen base upside. He has seen Lester well in his career, given the near 50 at-bat sample size. Lester cannot hold runners on first to save his life and Davis should definitely be in the lineup. Bradley Zimmer will likely find his way to the bench against a lefty. The price on Davis is perfect for the matchup and you just have to hope he can find his way on base in a steals situation.

Also Consider – Jarrod Dyson, $2,100 and Jackie Bradley, $2,600
