There’s big money riding on Baker Mayfield in tonight’s NFL Draft.

Baker Mayfield isn’t the only person seriously invested in whether or not he goes No. 1 overall to the Cleveland Browns in tonight’s NFL Draft. Anyone who placed a sizable bet on him becoming the first pick when betting opened could be in line for a massive pay-day.

Fortunately for sports books around the globe, there probably weren’t too many fans willing to make that bet early on. Mayfield’s rise up the Draft board has been nothing short of spectacular.

He began the year firmly outside of the round one projections of most analysts. His strong season for Oklahoma allowed himself to catapult somewhere into the middle of round one in most scouts’ eyes. Now, with the Draft just hours away, many people believe the controversial signal caller will be the first name called to the podium by Roger Goodell.

If you had the foresight to see his meteoric rise coming then I certainly hope you backed your belief with a sizable bet. Some sports books such as BetOnline.ag would have given you 66/1 odds just a few short months ago. That would put you in line for a very stressful day with a massive potential payoff possibility for tonight.

Of course, there’s a long time between now and when the Browns are officially placed on the clock. Even though Cleveland officials claim they have a pick in mind they’d be satisfied with, a trade is still a realistic possibility. Imagine the pain of holding a 66/1 odds ticket in your hand and hearing about a Browns trade just minutes before the Draft airs. Sports betting can go from ecstasy to despair in a New York minute.

If you really  need another reason to be intrigued about the first selection of tonight’s 2018 NFL Draft just think of the hundreds (or perhaps thousands) of people who have big money riding on Baker Mayfield. You may think the Browns have a lot to gain by selecting him, but they certainly aren’t the only ones.
