10. Texas Longhorns

  • First Season: 1893
  • All-time record: 897-366-33
  • National Titles: 4
  • Conference Titles: 32
  • Heisman Winners: 2
  • All-Americans: 60

The entire state of Texas itself is one big football haven. Every level of football in Texas is sacred and there are plenty of top college football programs within the state. The Texas Longhorns, of course, are the most heralded.

With four national championships and a ton of All-Americans to their credit over the years, the Longhorns have built one of the most loyal followings in sports. They even have their very own network.

Of course, one of the biggest driving factors in Texas football is the rivalry with Oklahoma. The Red River Showdown is one of the best in sports, not just in college, and the two sides meet every year in the Cotton Bowl to settle their differences.

The Longhorns have had their share of some incredible moments that college football fans will never forget either. Vince Young scrambling into the end zone to defeat the USC Trojans and to bring home a national championship is perhaps the biggest.

While they have had some lean years after Mack Brown, the Longhorns are in the process of rising back to prominence under head coach Tom Herman. With one of the most loyal followings behind the program, Texas is not only a Big 12 stalwart but a “blue blood” in every sense of the term.
