Dolphins, Stoneman Douglas team up for must-see moment (Video)
During the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins and Stoneman Douglas High School gave us an incredible moment.
Sometimes, sports are a vehicle for larger things in life. They are a way for us to forget our grief or even a tough day at work. On Saturday afternoon, we saw the power of sports at work during the 2018 NFL Draft, when the Miami Dolphins made their fourth-round selection.
Instead of having a former player make the choice as many teams do on Day 3, the Dolphins invited members of the Stoneman Douglas High School football team to do the honors. Of course, Stoneman Douglas was the school that suffered a horrific shooting only two months ago, leaving 17 people dead at the hands of alleged gunman, Nikolas Cruz.

Even more powerful than the sight of some football team members was the widow and daughter of late coach Aaron Feis, who bravely died in the shooting as he protected kids. Feis fought for his life in the immediate aftermath, but ultimate succumb to his injuries.

While the NFL Draft can oftentimes feel like a sideshow within a sideshow, this was a beautiful moment. The league loves to use the tagline Football is Family, and in this instance, the moniker was lived up to. The Dolphins should be commended on giving a grieving family and town this opportunity. While it pales in the scope of helping those afflicted move on, it at least gives a minute of happiness to those in pain.
