John Wall and Bradley Beal have a strange relationship, and the Washington Wizards might have a decision to make.

The Washington Wizards have a lot of decisions to make this summer. They were bounced in the first round by the Toronto Raptors in Game 6 of the first round this postseason, and it seems as if this group has hit its ceiling. John Wall and Bradley Beal are both stars. That much is clear, which is why it sounds dumb on the surface to separate them, but it might be time.

It must be stated that the Wizards aren’t likely to do this. Moving Wall is almost impossible because of his contract, and while Beal could be dealt, Washington might feel the risk is too great. Still, it has to be on the table with the notion of change being necessary starting to follow this team.

We’ve all seen what Victor Oladipo and James Harden became when they left the Oklahoma City Thunder, and that might be the perfect medicine for Wall and Beal.

There is a weird dynamic between them. Wall praised his backcourt mate for an “MVP-type season” after the Wizards were eliminated, but the fact remains that Beal said that “everybody eats” on the Washington team when Wall was out with an injury during a winning streak.

The players might not always get along off the court, but when the results on the hardwood don’t live up to the hype then questions must be asked.

"“I think we have an opportunity this summer to try to make our team better,” Wall said to ESPN. “Being in the situation before where we fall short in certain situations, most importantly, me and Brad just keep getting better and improving our game and improving our conditioning and all the types of things that we can prepare ourselves for a long season. And then it is up to our front office to add the pieces that they think we need to make our team better, more complete.”"

The bottom line is that Washington needs to make a change, and moving Wall or Beal would be the only way to add a quality player to the team. They don’t have enough cap room to sign a star this summer, and there aren’t many even willing to take a meeting. Kevin Durant lived in suburban D.C. growing up, and he didn’t even consider the Wizards in free agency.

It might be the right moment for Wall and Beal to go on separate paths.
