2019 NFL Mock Draft: Browns select Nick Bosa at No. 1
By Brad Weiss
Sitting at No. 2 in the 2018 NFL Draft, the New York Giants could have went so many ways. They had the luxury of trading back, grabbing their next quarterback, or selecting an elite running back. New York decided that Saquon Barkley from Penn State was worth the No. 2 overall selection, which was their first time picking that high since they selected Lawrence Taylor back in the early 1980s.
With Barkley in tow, and Odell Beckham Jr. on the outside, the scene is set for the Giants to be very good offensively next season. In the second round, the team selected guard Will Hernandez, who many believed to be the second-best at his position in the draft class. As they enter 2018, a big hole is still in their secondary at cornerback, where it looks like Eli Apple will be the No. 2 guy.
In 2019, the Giants have to make bringing in a cornerback a priority, and they should do so with their first round pick. One player who is certain to be a first round guy is Deandre Baker from Georgia, who is as good a ballhawk as there is in this draft class. Baker could give the team a solid No. 2 behind Janoris Jenkins, giving the Giants a solid cornerback tandem for the first time in a long time.
