2019 NFL Mock Draft: Browns select Nick Bosa at No. 1
By Brad Weiss
The Houston Texans did not have a first round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, as they traded the pick away to the Cleveland Browns to move up during the 2017 NFL Draft. With that pick, the Texans selected Deshaun Watson, who should be a tremendous quarterback in the league for years to come. Houston did a nice job this offseason adding talent to their defense, but a hole still remains on the unit heading into next season.
At cornerback, the Texans are going to need some new talent heading into the 2019 season. They should spend their 2019 first round pick on the position group, and Michael Jackson from Miami is a nice selection at No. 23. Kareem Jackson and Jonathan Joseph are good players, but if the Texans want to be the elite team in a very tough AFC South, they have to get better at the position moving forward.
My younger brother, Brent, is a huge Texans fan, which is hard to do living in Northern Virginia. When I was contemplating this pick, I called him up, and while he was excited about the team in 2018, he was worried about the cornerback group. Jackson could help them in a big way if they take him in the first round in 2019, and plays with the kind of swagger you need to be a shutdown corner at the next level.
