FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup – May 1, 2018
Cavaliers-Raptors (Series Tied 0-0)
Not much has changed on the Cleveland side, although Kevin Love is now below the average salary. He could make for a solid option given the chances he still gets on the Cavaliers. Otherwise, it’s still LeBron all game, every game.
Jeff Green was good against Toronto in the regular season. As was Rodney Hood in the Apr. 3 game. George Hill and Tristan Thompson stepped up in Game 7 while Kyle Korver and J.R. Smith remains shooters who can run hot and cold.
Finding the Cavs role player who contributes is always a tricky game.
On Toronto, there’s always the fear that LeBron does LeBron things to them and they aren’t competitive. I’m high on the Raptors in this series, largely due to the play of Delon Wright and Fred VanVleet. But Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan will need to take advantage over a still suspect Cleveland defense.
You can pair the Raptors point guards off the bench and load up elsewhere.
Pelicans-Warriors (Warriors Lead 1-0)
The return of Steph Curry mainly cuts into the value of Klay Thompson. He’s going to see less shots in the offense, unless he’s just red hot from the field. Obviously, that’s always a possibility with him. Kevin Durant and Draymond Green do enough on their own to still be great options. Curry could go either way. He’ll either look like his normal self. Or he’ll be rusty and “not 100 percent.”
Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston become the best options off the bench, with Kevin Looney and Quinn Cook likely taking more of a backseat.
The Pelicans will need bounce back performances from their stars. Rajon Rondo makes him the most likely bet to hit salary because of his ability to contribute in all areas. Nikola Mirotic is someone I’m not high on, at least until the series shifts to New Orleans.
Role players stepped up in Game 1, but expecting another big game from E’Twaun Moore, Darius Miller, and Jordan Crawford seems foolish. Moore is still the most likely option to contribute due to his role on the team. The bench got more playing time as a result of the blowout.
