FanDuel Lineups and Picks for Tuesday, May 1
Shortstop, High End Spend
Carlos Correa, $4,400
.667/.667/1.167 with 1 HR in 6 at-bats
If you’ve been a reader of this column for the last month, you already know that we love Carlos Correa against lefty pitching. That holds especially true when it’s a mediocre lefty like Yankees starter Jordan Montgomery is. Correa has career marks of a .293 batting average, .880 OPS and a .374 wOBA. All of those numbers have taken significant leap this season. The Astros offense very well could buzzsaw Montgomery tonight and Correa has a great chance to be smack in the middle of it.
Also Consider – Paul DeJong, $4,000
Mid-Range
Xander Bogaerts, $3,700
N/A
This is a little more expensive than normal but Bogaerts is still too cheap for what he’s bringing to the table right now. Not only did he hit a grand slam Monday night but he’s smashing righty pitching this season and you have to ride it while he’s still under $4,000. He’s hitting .412 with a 1.197 OPS and a .498 wOBA. That’s definitely higher than his career normals but he’s produced even after he’s come off the disabled list. The Red Sox offense is one of the best in the league and Bogaerts is one of their best hitters. He’s also one of the only ones that haven’t achieved a premium price yet. He’s cheaper than Andrew Benintendi at a more difficult position to fill for some unknown reason.
Also Consider – Jose Pereza, $3,100
Value
Zack Cozart, $2,700
1.000/1.000/2.000 with 0 HR in 1 at-bat
Shortstop doesn’t really appear to be a spot where we want to spend down on tonight but Cozart is very reasonable. His stats don’t look great with an average under .230 and a wOBA under .300. However, Cozart has hit righty pitching at a much more respectable rate with an average over .250 and a wOBA of .330. His hard hit rate of 38.5 suggests that the batting average might just be a little bit low. If you’re looking to attack Alex Cobb, it’s hard to find too many cheap bats. Cozart is a great way to get a piece of the Angels offense.
