The UFC has added a new contender to the Bantamweight division, signing former ACB champion Petr Yan.

The UFC continues to bolster its stacked roster, this time adding the promising Russian prospect Petr Yan to its 135-pound division.

A mainstay in the promotion ACB since 2015, Yan (8-1 MMA, 6-1 ACB) brings an impressive resumé to the Octagon. The 25-year-old is yet to meet an opponent he couldn’t beat with his lone blemish being a split decision loss to Magomed Magomedov. He would, however, go on to avenge this loss with a unanimous decision victory in their rematch.

Although he officially signed with the UFC in late January, Yan announced that he has signed his first bout agreement with the UFC early Tuesday morning.

MMA Fighting confirmed with Yan’s manager Sayat MMA the contract is good for four fights.

The man known as ‘No Mercy’ is currently an impressive three-fight win streak, which includes victories over Ed Arthur, Magomedov and most recently vaunted Brazilian prospect Matheus MattosinstaYan has never been finished in a professional MMA bout.

Yan carries with him a sharp striking repertoire, training out of Tiger Muay Thai and MMA in Phuket, Thailand. Of his four professional finishes, three have come via KO/TKO. The fourth: a guillotine choke.

Adding in a background in Sambo, Yan has already proven to be a well-round fighter with his strong offensive and defensive grappling, making for a tough puzzle to solve.

The 5′ 7″ Yan never surrendered his ACB bantamweight belt. Having fought out his contract in September, he and the UFC decided that it was time for the big stage.

Although no opponent has been announced yet, Yan is expected to make his promotional debut UFC Singapore on June 23. A welterweight scrap between Donald Cerrone and Leon Edwards will serve as the headlining act.
