Roma beat Liverpool 4-2 in the Champions League on Wednesday, May 2. Here are all of the highlights from the match.

The performance was hardly convincing, but Liverpool made it to the Champions League final on Tuesday following a 7-6 aggregate win against Roma. The Reds lost 4-2 on the day, but their first leg performance was enough to see them through.

Roma started well, forcing the Reds onto the back foot in the opening minutes, but it was clear there was space for Liverpool’s counter-attack to work in. With Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane leading the line, a goal seemed like only a matter of time.

It came in only the ninth minute, Mane finishing past Allison after a poor Roma giveaway to ensure Roma would need to scored four goals to advance. The home side were given a lifeline shortly after, however, when Dejan Lovren’s clearance hit Milner and rebounded into the goal.

Again, there was a Roma surge, but Liverpool were comfortable enough to sit deep and try and play on the break. Their second goal came in the 25th minute through Georginio Wijnaldum, who headed in after the Italian side failed to clear a corner.

Liverpool’s shaky defending cost them again in the second half, as Edin Dzeko capitalized on a poor save by Loris Karius, who parried Stephan El Sharaawy’s shot straight into the Bosnian’s path after a mistake by Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Radja Naingollan’s 86th minute goal, a wonderful, fizzing strike that went in off the post, made for a nervy finish for Liverpool, and he made it four from the spot deep in injury team, but the Reds managed to hold out with only a 4-2 loss to advance to their sixth European Cup final.
