The Kentucky Oaks is the sister race to the Kentucky Derby, and takes place the day before on Friday, May 4. Here’s how you can watch online.

Like the Kentucky Derby, the Kentucky Oaks is available to stream courtesy of NBC Sports. But given the race is but mere minutes, what the really means is you can stream all the related proceedings: The parades, the undercard races, the extensive hat coverage.

Kentucky Oaks coverage on NBCSN and the NBC Sports app starts at 12 p.m. ET on Friday, May 4 with the undercard races and the official Oaks program beings at 5 p.m. ET. The post time for the Oaks is 6:12 p.m., and the program is anticipated to end at 6:30 p.m. ET. You can also watch the day’s events through the FuboTV — available for free with a seven-day trial.

The Kentucky Oaks are a beloved event in the horse racing community. A race dedicated — and exclusive — to three-year-old fillies, guests wear pink to raise awareness and money for disease that disproportionately affect women. (It should be said that fillies — young female horses — can race in the Derby with the boys, and some have done so and won, the Derby is a race dominated by colts.)

Friday’s race is considered by many to be an opener for the Kentucky Derby and guests to the Derby will find it slightly more cost-efficient to buy tickets for both days and make a whole day out of it.
