Welcome into the Saturday edition of the FanDuel daily fantasy MLB column.  Tonight’s slate is a little bigger than normal so let’s get to it.

We conquered the beast of a 15-game slate last night with a score of over 150 points. While it just missed the tournaments, it cruised to an easy win in 50/50s. Rick Porcello got wildly overlooked and players are sleeping on him being back to his 2016 form. Even though Porcello was awesome, it hurt my heart not to have Gerrit Cole last night. That man is scary right now and he’s running away with the American League Cy Young race. He put up a whopping 85 FanDuel points. Aaron Judge was the chalk of the night (not surprisingly) but you just had to play him. Matt Olson was the lat night hammer for us and even two zeroes couldn’t hold us down. Ten games is a little bigger than normal so let’s jump in.

Rockies at Mets

Rockies Probable Starter – Chad Bettis, RHP

2.43 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 6.08 K/9

Vs LHH – .183 average, .261 wOBA and 34.8 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .214 average, .296 wOBA and 37.3 hard contact rate

Bettis has pitched pretty well so far this season. This might not be the spot to really try and attack him although the Mets do have a couple interesting hitters. Todd Frazier is coming off a big game last night and is carrying a .402 wOBA against righties. The price is also appealing at just $3,600. Yoenis Cespedes as always in play with the power bat that he has but this just seems like a spot where I might pass on the Mets totally. Bettis can be an effective pitcher and the Mets are a mediocre offense for the most part. Nobody jumps off the page on this side of the ball.

Mets Hitters to Target

Elite Options – None

Secondary Options – Todd Frazier, Yoenis Cespedes

Mets Probable Starter – Steven Matz, LHP

4.98 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 10.80 K/9

Vs LHH – .200 average, .321 wOBA and 0.0 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .219 average, .347 wOBA and 40.8 hard contact rate

I’m always excited to see the Rockies draw a lefty on the road because we can get some of their best hitters at a bit of a discounted price from when they play at Coors. They’re still very highly priced tonight but a player like Nolan Arenado is under $5,000. He draws Wheeler, who shouldn’t scare anyone and Arenado is hitting .304 with a .440 wOBA against lefties on the road. Chris Iannetta is also a great salary saver as he has typically hit lefties very well through his career. A big risk/reward option from this game is Trevor Story. He strikes out far too often to ever feel safe about him. Yet, at his price point he carries some serious upside. Wheeler is striking out his fair share of hitters but Colorado is hitting hot right now. They could continue it again tonight.
