The Kentucky Derby is coming, and you don’t want to miss the greatest two minutes in sports. Here’s where you can find it online

The thing about an event like the Kentucky Derby is that it’s a whole experience. It’s not a game that you can head down and watch after work, or something that’s easy to plan around. The entire race itself will take just over (or just under) 2 minutes, hence the “most exciting two minutes in sports” designation.

It happens on a weekend in part because most of the people who come to the Derby come for the whole event. The undercard races begin at or slightly after noon but the main event doesn’t take place for hours. Because of that there is quite a bit of fluff that goes into the programming for the Derby, magnified by the fact that the entire day has turned into some sort of exhibition. There is almost as much emphasis placed on the hats and the outfits of attendants as there is on, you know, the actual athletes.

Pre-race coverage, which includes Derby previews and coverage of the undercard races begins at 2:30pm ET. This will be broadcast on NBCSN, and on the NBC app. The actual Derby will be set off at 6:46 pm ET, and it is the most exciting two minutes in sports. You can also watch on FuboTV with free seven-day trial.

If you are looking for even more Derby coverage, there are two separate previews: an overall look at the field, and one specifically for handicappers. These will air Saturday morning on TVG (which, by the way, is a channel specifically for horse racing.) These segments may be available after they air on the TVG website.
