2. Drew Lock – Missouri

There may not have been a more productive quarterback in major college football last season than Drew Lock. Despite playing in the rough and tumble SEC he managed to throw for over 3,600 yards and 43 touchdowns. Any quarterback on this list would be happy to trade stats with Lock.

Those prolific numbers actually make some NFL scouts believe he’ll be the first quarterback taken in 2019. ESPN analyst Todd McShay projects him to be the first quarterback off the board in his 2019 mock draft. With that being said, McShay doesn’t see Lock being selected until the No. 17 pick.

There are some red flags when it comes to Lock’s game. He plays in a very passer friendly offense at Missouri. The program’s history of churning out passers with good statistics is excellent. Their history of producing legitimate NFL quarterback talent is much less promising. Blaine Gabbert taught the whole league a cautionary tale about drafting Mizzou quarterbacks in the first round.

With that being said, Lock does have the prototypical size and speed that NFL teams covet. That should allow him to differentiate himself from failed Missouri quarterbacks of the past. If he has another prolific season he should hear his name called on day one of the 2019 NFL Draft.
