New Girl airs its fifth and sixth episode of its final season in a double-header tonight starting at 9:00 p.m. ET / 8:00 p.m. central on FOX. According to TVByTheNumbers, New Girl had 1.33 million viewers last week, the show’s ratings continue to hold steady showing the series could continue into a season 8 if they wanted to pursue it. Maybe, there will be a reunion season a few years down the line or even a potential spinoff.

FOX has to notice that the show still has life in it. Networks typically don’t let go of a great thing (with excellent outreach to advertisers) unless they absolutely have to. It’s likely if actress Zooey Deschanel truly wanted another season, FOX would give it to her. However, there are also many shows that have wanted to go out while still doing well or preferably on top of their game.

Yet, it wasn’t that long ago that the show was celebrating its 100th episode with a stylish cake… Who’s to say 200th episode can’t be achieved? When season 7 concludes there will be 146 total episodes, just four shy of that freshly spoken 150.

Then, Nick’s plan to propose to Jess is thrown off-course when they decide to get a dog, Winston sees color for the first time and Schmidt worries about Cece getting pregnant again."

According to EW.com, New Girl will feature guest star J.B. Smoove of Curb Your Enthusiasm fame as Winston’s dad.
