Here are five groups to watch during the first two rounds of the 2018 edition of  The Players Championship.

It’s once again time for one of the biggest golf tournaments in the world as The Players Championship from the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass is upon us.

A total of 144 of the best players in the world, including every player in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking, are set for the biggest event (and purse) on the PGA Tour and there are some phenomenal groups set for the first two rounds on Thursday and Friday.

There’s the all-English trio of Ian Poulter, Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose, all of whom could easily go on a run and win this golf tournament. There are two dynamite threesomes teeing off at the same time. (Groups will go off from both the 1st and 10th tees on the first two days.) One which features Matt Kuchar, Brandt Snedeker and Billy Horschel while the other includes former Masters champ Charl Schwartzel, Tony Finau (who had his own Masters moment this year) and Daniel Berger.

Normally, the defending champion are included in articles like this but the groups later on are so full of firepower that Si Woo Kim just didn’t fit. It also must be noted that there has never been a back-to-back winner in the history of The Players Championship. But he’s still in a group that also includes former Players champs Adam Scott and Martin Kaymer, both of whom were also once the top-ranked player in the world.

So, if that group couldn’t make this list, let’s take a look at the five that did, starting with the trio that includes the most recent winner on the PGA Tour.
