5 NFL players that will be MVP favorites in 2018
3. Tom Brady
Despite approaching 41 years old, Brady amazingly still appears to be in the prime of his career. Despite not having his best season, an untimely injury to Carson Wentz helped solidify Brady as the MVP with 32 touchdowns against eight interceptions.
With Brady at the top of his game, and if the Patriots show no sign of slowing down, he will garner some votes. Brady’s receiving core is good, but they’re not great. The play of Brady makes them what they are — with the exception of Rob Gronkowski.
There’s no doubt Brady was still an elite player at the end of 2017, and his performance in Super Bowl LII showed he was still at the top of his game. If the Patriots win the AFC East by a comfortable margin Brady could become the second player in NFL history to win a fourth MVP award.
The Patriots defense hasn’t really improved, and the running game will be OK, but not spectacular. So, it’ll be all up to Brady to pull a rabbit out of a hat. Still, though, it would be amazing if he can keep up his greatness in what will be his age 41 season.
