FanDuel Lineup and Picks for Friday, May 11
Mariners at Tigers
Mariners Probable Starter – Marco Gonzales, RHP
5.19 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 9.87 K/9
Vs LHH – .238 average, .304 wOBA and 38.1 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .322 average, .361 wOBA and 37.4 hard contact rate
This side of the game is straightforward as you have to have some fortitude to use Gonzales for any reason. Even though the Tigers offense isn’t what it used to be, Gonzales still isn’t a very good pitcher and he’s been getting pounded by righties. I want the right handed bats from the Tigers and a players like JaCoby Jones and James McCann are great ways to get up to one of the expensive aces. If Nicholas Castellanos is healthy and active, he’s a fantastic option as well.
Tigers Hitters to Target
Elite Options – JaCoby Jones, James McCann, Nicholas Castellanos
Secondary Options – Dixon Macahdo, John Hicks
Tiger Probable Starter – Matt Boyd, LHP
3.00 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 6.50 K/9
Vs LHH – .111 average, .153 wOBA and 26.1 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .243 average, .294 wOBA and 27.1 hard contact rate
The Mariners bats might be quite popular tonight as they face a mediocre lefty in Boyd. Some of his stats look pretty good but his fly ball rate suggests there’s trouble on the way. Boyd has done a really solid job against lefty hitters so far and that side of the plate is out for me. On a slate this large, you have to eliminate a significant size of the player pool. I do have some interest in the righty bats for Seattle even with Boyd limiting hard contact to under 30 percent.
Mariners Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Jean Segura, Mitch Haniger, Nelson Cruz
Secondary Options – Ryon Healy, Mike Zunino
Home Run Pick – Nelson Cruz
Braves at Marlins
Braves Probable Starter – Brandon McCarthy, RHP
4.84 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 6.88 K/9
Vs LHH – .222 average, .353 wOBA and 19.1 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .362 average, .385 wOBA and 26.1 hard contact rate
McCarthy had at least been somewhat usable until recently as he’s had a single digit start and a negative point start under his belt in his last three games. When a pitcher draws Miami, I typically at least want to consider him but I’m not sure I can go there with McCarthy tonight. We played his teammate Mike Foltynewicz last night because there was actual upside there. McCarthy might get you 30 points but that would mean you have no room for error with your hitting.
Marlins Hitters to Target
Elite Options – J.T. Realmuto, Starlin Castro
Secondary Options – Derek Dietrich, Justin Bour
Marlins Probable Starter – Dan Straily, RHP
6.75 ERA, 2.13 WHIP and 3.38 K/9
Vs LHH – .313 average, .489 wOBA and 42.9 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .267 average, .462 wOBA and 42.9 hard contact rate
The first two starts of Dan Straily’s 2018 campaign have not gone very well. He’s not in play whatsoever and I’d have a tough time talking you out of too many Braves hitters this evening. I personally will lean towards the lefties and Ender Inciarte is a great play this evening. He’s on the right side of the splits and is leading the majors in stolen bases with 16. Those are so valuable on FanDuel and Inciarte is far too cheap at just $2,900. Even on a large slate, he’s a borderline lock for me this evening.
Braves Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Freddie Freeman, Ender Inciarte, Ozzie Albies
Secondary Options – Nick Markakis, Ronald Acuna
Home Run Pick – Freddie Freeman
