FanDuel Lineup and Picks for Sunday, May 13
Braves at Marlins
Braves Probable Starter – Sean Newcomb, LHP
2.88 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 10.62 K/9
Vs LHH – .148 average, .290 wOBA and 36.8 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .221 average, .261 wOBA and 24.4 hard contact rate
The young lefty for the Braves is one of my go-to guys for daily fantasy with his high strikeout rate and his price is still pretty attractive even though he is at the most expensive he’s been all season. To be fair, the Marlins carry one of the lowest strikeout rates in the league and that should be noted. Still, Newcomb can strike out anyone when he’s pitching well. The righties for the Marlins don’t possess a ton of power with the exception of J.T. Realmuto. He’s played three straight days and might get the day off today. If he’s out, Newcomb gets an extra bump.

Marlins Probable Starter – Joes Urena, RHP
4.37 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 7.54 K/9
Vs LHH – .287 average, .346 wOBA and 41.6 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .238 average, .286 wOBA and 38.1 hard contact rate
As a general rule, I’m not going to target pitchers against this Braves offense. That will remain the case today since Urena is a very average pitcher across the board. I’m plenty happy to take some Braves hitters today, although the Red Sox are probably a bit of a better play. One of the players I might shy away from is Ozzie Albies. He has significant splits between righty and lefty pitching. Ronald Acuna might be my man crush but he’s also extremely expensive. Either player could definitely have a monster game, but this is about playing the odds.
Braves Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Freddie Freeman, Nick Markakis, Ender Inciarte(even though he goose egged us Friday night and put up 40.4 points Saturday night)
Secondary Options – Jose Bautista, Ozzie Albies, Ronald Acuna
Home Run Pick – Freddie Freeman stays hot with his third bomb in two days
Mariners at Tigers
Mariners Probable Starter – James Paxton, LHP
3.40 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 12.65 K/9
Vs LHH – .424 average, .531 wOBA and 34.8 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .146 average, .214 wOBA and 32.2 hard contact rate
You can’t be much hotter coming into this game than Paxton is. In his last three starts, he’s racked up 22 innings pitched, 33 strikeouts, two earned runs and one no-hitter. That’s not too shabby and he does have a tough matchup on paper. Detroit strikes out at a very low rate against lefties and they hit for a high average with decent power. I love Paxton normally but he’s over $10,000. I think I’d rather pay the extra $300 and just play Severino but I can’t knock anyone who wants Paxton instead.
Tigers Hitters to Target

Secondary Options – None
Tigers Probable Starter – Blaine Hardy, LHP
2.70 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 8.10 K/9
I’m going to skip the splits as they’re not going o be much to go on. Truthfully, I could have skipped the ERA and other stats because Hardy has pitched only 3.1 innings so far this year. He’s only pitched 60 or so over the past three seasons, so don’t feel bad if you’ve never heard of him. Through his career, righty hitters have a higher average and wOBA by a good bit. That’s where I would focus my efforts on for the Mariners today.
Mariners Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Mitch Haniger, Nelson Cruz, Ryon Healy, Jean Segura
Secondary Options – Dee Gordon, Mike Zunino Robinson Cano
Home Run Pick – Jean Segura
