Mariners at Twins

Mariners Probable Starter – Wade LeBlanc, LHP

3.18 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 7.15 K/9

Vs LHH – .250 average, .318 wOBA and 28.6 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .264 average, .302 wOBA and 30.4 hard contact rate

LeBlanc is certainly nothing more than major league average, if not a little worse. I’m still having a hard time targeting a bunch of hitters against him because he seems to do enough to keep offense off balance. He’s not playable because he strikes out virtually nobody but he’s also given up one earned run in his last two starts. Lefties are hitting a ground ball almost 60 percent of the time so if you play any Twins, I’d stick with the righty bats. At first glance, this side of the game seems like one that I’ll cross of my list for the most part.

Twins Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Brian Dozier

Secondary Options – Byron Buxton, Eduardo Escobar

Twins Probable Starter – Jake Odorizzi, RHP

3.83 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 8.08 K/9

VS LHH – .225 average, .351 wOBA and 35.1 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .230 average, .326 wOBA and 31.8 hard contact rate

Even at a price tag under $7,000, I can’t bring myself to play Odorizzi this evening. He doesn’t carry the highest strikeout rate on a good day and the Mariners are one of the hardest teams to strikeout. Seattle did lose Robinson Cano to a broken hand yesterday and that will weaken this lineup. Odorizzi is at home which helps slightly and he’s got enough ability that I likely won’t have a tone of Mariners in my lineup, if any at all. Dee Gordon and Nelson Cruz are somewhat attractive due to their price tags. Cruz especially has to get going sooner than later…right?

Mariners Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Nelson Cruz, Kyle Seager

Secondary Options – Dee Gordon, Mitch Haniger, Mike Zunino

Home Run Pick – Brian Dozier

Brewers at Diamondbacks

Brewers Probable Starter – Junior Guerra, RHP

3.09 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 9.52 K/9

Vs LHH – .206 average, .299 wOBA and 33.3 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .222 average, .301 wOBA and 40.0 hard contact rate

Guerra isn’t all that attractive to actually play because he has exactly one quality start all season, but he can strike some hitters out. I’m really not going to go nuts with Diamondbacks hitters in part because there’s not a ton of options that make a lot of sense. There’s two that are on my radar. One is not Paul Goldschmidt either, as he’s hit double digits one time in his last 16 games. $3,700 isn’t cheap enough at the moment. A.J. Pollock has been tearing it up and David Peralta has a .420 wOBA against righties this season. A $3,000 price isn’t bad at all.

Diamondbacks Hitters to Target

Elite Options – David Peralta, A.J. Pollock

Secondary Options – Paul Goldschmidt

Diamondbacks Probable Starter – Patrick Corbin, LHP

2.12 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 11.82 K/9

Vs LHH – .139 average, .176 wOBA and 20.8 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .168 average, .247 wOBA and 42.0 hard contact rate

This is a very interesting spot for Corbin. When I first started to look over this slate, I just kind of assumed I would play Corbin and started to move on. As I look more at it, he might not be quite as good of a play as I thought. The Brewers strikeout in the top 10 against righties but that rank drops to 24th against lefties. Corbin has also seen his velocity dip(you’re going to hear that A LOT today) but that sometimes happens to pitchers during the season. The biggest issue might be the lack of swings and misses at his slider. It’ been cut in half his last few starts. and that was the pitch that seemingly unlocked his ceiling. Corbin also hasn’t crossed the 40 point barrier his past three starts.

Brewers Hitters to Target

Elite Options – None

Secondary Options – Lorenzo Cain, Ryan Braun, Domingo Santana, Christian Yelich

Home Run Pick – David Peralta
