Who most deserves to win the NBA draft lottery? And who definitely doesn’t?

Tonight’s NBA Draft Lottery could provide an injection of hope to a team and fanbase that definitely needs it. Such as the Suns (losers of 61, 58 and 59 games the last three years, no playoffs since 2010). Or the Magic (losers of approximately 10 trades in a row, no playoffs since 2012).

Or this year’s lottery could see the rich get richer. The 52-win 76ers have a 1.1 percent shot at landing the number one overall pick. There is a roughly 13 percent chance either the Cavaliers or Celtics, the two teams in the Eastern Conference Finals, walk away with a top-three pick.

Which is the more just outcome? Should a perennial loser be rewarded, or should a team who has shrewdly accrued picks and found a way to win? Should the top pick go to a team like the Hawks or Grizzlies who recently ended long playoff streaks, or be a lifeline for the Hornets and Pistons, seemingly stuck in NBA purgatory?

Should the most brazen tankers be punished? What about the Kings, who ruined their lottery position by winning nine games after the All-Star Break when every one else kicked losing into high gear? Because they both focused on developing their young players and winning games, should they be rewarded?

To help answer that question and decide which team is most (and least) deserving, Greg Wissinger (@gwiss) joins the latest episode of Fastbreak Breakfast. Greg is an editor for Sactown Royalty and may be a little biased. Does Sacramento really have the best case for deserving to receive some lottery luck? Who should win if not the Kings? And which lottery result would be the most amusing?
