The Yankees have the best record in baseball at the moment, but that doesn’t mean they won’t try to strengthen their team before the Trade Deadline.

Brian Cashman understands that only way for the Yankees to have a successful season is to finish the year with a World Series title. That’s exactly why he’ll work hard to give Aaron Boone everything he needs to be successful this October. That will almost certainly require a few moves in advance of the Trade Deadline.

In this piece, we’ll examine five Yankees who could be dealt before that magical date arrives. For some it’s a product of their poor performance. There just isn’t room in the Yankees clubhouse for players who aren’t pulling their weight.

The Yankees could also look to move players at positions of depth in an effort to strengthen weaker spots in the roster. Those moves could be more painful for Yankee fans, but they also have the best chance of bringing quality talent back in return.

Next summer’s free agency plans will also heavily factor into Cashman’s deadline decisions. It’s widely assumed that the Yankees will be big spenders on the super talented free agent class of 2019. That might mean Cashman isn’t going to add massive payroll this season.

Without delay, let’s take a look at five Yankees who shouldn’t get too comfortable in the Bronx. Each of them could find themselves on new teams before the 2018 season is over. All five won’t move, but each will definitely be discussed internally.
