16. Rays — Connor Scott/OF/Plant High School

Miami staying local is something Tampa could take a page from. Scott is a fantastic prep prospect who plays his high school ball in the Tampa area, which makes porting him over a natural fit.

17. Angels — Logan Gilbert/RHP/Stetson

He’s projected to be a Top-15 pick, which means falling to the Angels and potentially debuting alongside an in-his-prime Shohei Ohtani is very appealing.

18. Royals — Jordan Groshans/3B/Magnolia High School

Kansas City investing in a prep bat, given how deep into the rebuild hole they’ve fallen, makes a ton of sense here.

19. Cardinals — Jackson Kowar/RHP/Florida

St. Louis reloading its pitching with another strong Florida arm is a solid play. They could look at a position player but the value for Kowar here is fantastic.

20. Twins — Cole Winn/RHP/Orange Lutheran High School

The Twins and pitching prospects they hope will become the next thing is pretty much synonymous with their legacy. It’s all about getting it right this time.

21. Brewers — J.T. Ginn/RHP/Brandon High School

Milwaukee is in a spot where they have the talent to win now and don’t need to draft specifically for the future. Still, Ginn is a solid arm they’d likely love to add.

22. Rockies — Cole Wilcox/RHP/Heritage High School

Another solid arm couldn’t hurt if you’re Colorado. Power arms are what Keith Law says the Rockies are after, but it’s a beggars-can’t-be-choosers situation here.

23. Yankees — Jordyn Adams/OF/GreenHope High School

Given the way New York has excellently built its farm system and is reaping the benefits now, it’s hard to see them doing wrong with another great position prospect.

24. Cubs — Noah Naylor/INF/St. Joan of Arc High School

Who better to fit Joe Maddon’s weird schemes than a guy who can play multiple positions. Naylor can catch too, which sweetens the pot even more.

25. Diamondbacks — Matt McLain/INF/Beckman High School

Based on virtually every other mock out there, this seems like a lock at this spot.

26. Red Sox — Brice Turang/SS/Santiago High School

There are big shoes to fill when stepping into the role of Boston Red Sox shortstop, but Turang seems like the type of guy who could in a few years fit into the next wave of Sox success.

27. Nationals — Kumar Rocker/RHP/North Oconee High School

For some reason, he seems to be falling in mocks, but there’s no reason to hate on Rocker. He very well could go higher than this as we approach the draft, but the Nationals are never not in need of pitching depth.

28. Astros — Nick Schnell/OF/Roncalli High School

The rich getting richer would be the best way to describe this. Houston, who drafted itself a World Series roster, should be all over Schnell should his stock not shoot up in the days leading up to the draft.

29. Indians — Tristan Beck/RHP/Stanford

Cleveland has young talent all over, but the pitching rotation is going to be a question mark moving forward. Especially after the season, it’s turning in presently, the Indians adding Beck — a polished, low-90s starter — could end up being useful sooner than other prospects taken before him.

30. Dodgers — Blaine Knight/RHP/Arkansas

Take the Clayton Kershaw question out of the equation and the situation is still the same: Los Angeles needs pitching. Kershaw probably won’t leave town but he’s on the wrong side of his prime, meaning the Dodgers need to find a future ace. Knight is needs work, but he’s on a timeline where he won’t be truly called on until Kershaw dips in production — which is years away.
