The New York Mets kept good on their promise and allowed a high school-aged fan on the field for her official prom photos after she was able to get 500,000 retweets on Twitter.
The New York Mets promised a young fan that if she got 500,000 retweets they’d let her take her prom photos on the field — and they made good on their promise, plus more.
#CallieMetsProm and what’s a prom without a dance? @jerryblevins gets the honor with @callieshayeeex3 ... and what could be more @Mets than the jets from LaGuardia overhead? pic.twitter.com/A8C1WrbB2H

It all started when Callie posted a screenshot asking for friends and family to retweet it so she could take promo photos on Citi Field. That tweet ended up going viral, inspiring the hashtag #CallieMetsProm, and today the team made good on their promise and invited her to pose for photos in her gown (which was blue to match the team colors), meet the players, have a jersey autographed and even had a first prom dance.

Callie’s school prom isn’t until next weekend, but the Mets will be traveling to Milwaukee to face the Brewers so they celebrated on Friday. She was also invited to stay and watch the game.

Mets pitcher Jerry Blevins had the honor of spinning Callie around the field for her first dance, and she says she teared up while meeting Noah Syndergaard, one of her favorite players. She also met third baseman Todd Frazier, who she reportedly razzed for being on “the other New York team.”
We gave @callieshayeeex3 the quest for 500K RTs, and she achieved it! We’re excited to have her out at @CitiField tomorrow to take prom photos with some of her favorite players. #CallieMetsProm pic.twitter.com/dXqjhDtLcd

Callie will be attending State University of New York at New Paltz, which just so happens to have the orange and blue colors — just like her favorite team.
At press time, the Mets were ahead two runs in the bottom of the third inning against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Mets are currently ranked fourth in the National League East, trailing just a few games behind the Washington Nationals. The team currently holds a 20-19 record including seven wins in the last 10.
They play the Diamondbacks Saturday and Sunday before facing the Miami Marlins at home.
