FanDuel Lineup and Picks for Saturday, May 19
Orioles at Red Sox
Orioles Probable Starter – Dylan Bundy, RHP
4.53 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 26.2 strikeout rate
Vs LHH – .326 average, .393 wOBA, 47.1 fly ball rate and 33.8 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .212 average, .326 wOBA, 46.2 fly ball rate and 35.4 hard contact rate
buddy had a nice bounce back start last time out but I’m passing tonight. He’s a seriously good tournament options because nobody will play him in Boston. If Bundy has his full arsenal working, he can limit the damage from Boston. If he doesn’t, Boston is going to completely smash him. I tend to think Bundy has a solid if unspectacular game. I’m likely just sticking with the lefties and Mookie Betts, because he’s white hot and I found yesterday that it’s really fun to say “Mookie Betts, bay-bay!” when he’s in my lineup. I’m becoming convinced Betts could get a hit off of any pitcher of any era. He’s really a fantastic player.
Red Sox Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Mookie Betts, Andrew Benintendi, Mitch Moreland, J.D. Martinez
Secondary Options – Rafael Devers, Hanley Ramirez
Red Sox Probable Starter – Rick Porcello, RHP
3.28 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 23.4 strikeout rate
Vs LHH – .228 average, .295 wOBA, 45.1 fly ball rate and 38.9 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .227 average, .240 wOBA, 23.4 fly ball rate and 22.3 hard contact rate
Not for the first time this year, Porcello is definitely in play against this Baltimore lineup because the Orioles are righty heavy and the lefties they have are barely average. I very much like Porcello, especially under $9,000. it’s a toss up between him and Kingham in that price range for my favorite pitcher on the board as of right now. If you want to attack the lefty weakness for Porcello, I’d take my chances on Pedro Alvarez before I’d play Chris Davis. Both are excellent GPP plays.
Orioles Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Pedro Alvarez, Manny Machado
Secondary Options – Chris Davis
Home Run Pick – Rafael Devers
Marlins at Braves
Marlins Probable Starter – Jose Urena, RHP
4.38 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 19.6 strikeout rate
Vs LHH – .270 average, .331 wOBA, 31.9 fly ball rate and 40.7 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .236 average, .288 wOBA, 33.3 fly ball rate and 37.9 hard contact rate
The Braves offense did a whole lot of nothing last night, failing to score a run. this is too talented of a group to not put runs up very often so I’m fine attacking Urena tonight. Ronald Acuna has been a little up and down and feels a touch expensive. Freddie Freeman is one of the better plays on the slate tonight because he’s seeing more pitches since there’s an actual offense around him now. I also want to chase down Nick Markakis and Ender Inciarte again but that’s almost every night with me. I love this Atlanta offense and I could literally just write “Stack the Braves” in this space every single day.
Braves Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Freddie Freeman, Ender Inciarte, Nick Markakis
Secondary Options – Ronald Acuna, Ozzie Albies
Braves Probable Starter – Sean Newcomb, LHP
2.51 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 28.4 strikeout rate
Vs LHH – .148 average, .290 wOBA, 47.4 fly ball rate and 36.8 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .199 average, .256 wOBA, 33.0 fly ball rate and 24.2 hard contact rate
As much as I love Newcomb, I’m not sure I can get on board with his price tonight. He’s really pricey for his potential downside. Sure, he hasn’t been scored upon in his last three starts but that can’t last. Atlanta gave Newcomb an extra day of rest as they scratched him late yesterday. The Marlins offense isn’t that good but Newcomb could walk a bunch of hitters and ruin his night in a hurry. I’d rather play Kingham or Porcello right around this same price tag. I also want nothing to do with the Marlins bats tonight.
Marlins Hitters to Target
Elite Options – None
Secondary Options – Justin Bour, J.T. Realmuto
Home Run Pick – Freddie Freeman
