Brewers at Twins

Brewers Probable Starter – Junior Guerra, RHP

3.08 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 23.3 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .197 average, .295 wOBA, 34.7 fly ball rate and 30.0 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .209 average, .282 wOBA, 43.8 fly ball rate and 48.0 hard contact rate

Guerra has a lot of positive metrics but the one thing that’s hard to overlook is the fact that he’s giving up a very high fly ball and hard contact rate to right handed hitters. Giving up that amount of both those types of balls is not going to end well sooner or later. I probably would stay away from the lefties which eliminates quite a few hitters from the Twins lineup. Brian Dozier continues to be cheaper than normal but he’s also been very up and down lately. Eddie Rosario is in play but seems a hair expensive at $3,400. Eduardo Escobar might be the best play off this team due to price and position he plays but I don’t see myself having a lot of this game.

Twins Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Eduardo Escobar

Secondary Options – Eddie Rosario, Brian Dozier

Twins Probable Starter – Jake Odorizzi, RHP

3.35 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 22.3 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .218 average, .341 wOBA, 52.5 fly ball rate and 37.1 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .226 average, .317 wOBA, 50.7 fly ball rate and 34.3 hard contact rate

if you wanted to see what the textbook definition of “meh” is, just take a look at a picture of Jake Odorizzi. The strikeout rate is fine but not spectacular. The fly ball rate looks bad but he’s survived with it up until this point. No Brewer really stands out as some type of great play and this might be  one of the games to just mentally scratch off your list. It’s definitely a tournament style game and I’ll likely look elsewhere in cash games. The only two in consideration for cash are Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain.

Rangers at White Sox

Rangers Probable Starter – Mike Minor, LHP

5.61 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 19.6 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .192 average, .234 wOBA, 22.2 fly ball rate and 42.1 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .288 average, .393 wOBA, 46.6 fly ball rate and 41.4 hard contact rate

This side of the game is super easy. Minor isn’t worth using as there’s a very low probability of him logging a quality start and a win is up in the air as well. Time Anderson and Jose Abreu are borderline locks between the prices and potential for points in this matchup. Both those players wreck lefty pitching and there’s a good chance of them having their way today. One player who might carry much lower ownership is Matt Davison. He is oddly the most expensive of the trio and most people won’t look that way. He’s also the most volatile of the group as well.

White Sox Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Jose Abreu, Tim Anderson

Secondary Options – Matt Davidson

White Sox Probable Starter – Reynaldo Lopez, RHP

3.50 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 15.7 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .269 average, .391 wOBA, 53.7 fly ball rate and 37.3 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .177 average, .258 wOBA, 46.1 fly ball rate and 30.3 hard contact rate

The regression monster has started to feast on Lopez and two of his last three starts have resulted in zero strikeouts. I don’t want to play him tonight even at his ver depressed price point and the Rangers have lefty bats to take advantage of the platoon splits. The two who fit in the easiest are Shin-soo Choo and Joey Gallo. I know, Gallos has been very quiet this past week, a couple of times as a chalky option. Nomar Mazara is also in the mix, but Choo is $500 less expensive. That might lean me towards Choo for today.

Secondary Options – Nomar Mazara

Home Run Pick – Matt Davidson
