FanDuel Lineup and Picks for Wednesday, May 23
Marlins at Mets
Marlins Probable Starter – Dan Straily, RHP
3.60 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 15.9 strikeout rate
Vs LHH – .282 average, .431 wOBA, 25.8 fly ball rate and 62.5 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .118 average, .224 wOBA, 52.9 fly ball rate and 48.1 hard contact rate
Straily is starting to get his feet under him after missing a big chunk of the start of the season with an injury. He’s gradually been trending up and dominated the Braves squad last time out. That’s a very impressive feat. The Mets offense isn’t that good and I think that Straily might not be the worst play. I think the only two hitters that really concern me in the mets lineup are Michale Conforto and Brandon Nimmo. Past that, I don’t think I’ll have too many Mets hitters.
Mets Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Brandon Nimmo
Secondary Options – Michael Conforto, Adrian Gonzalez
Mets Probable Starter – Jacob deGrom, RHP
1.75 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 34.3 strikeout rate
Vs LHH – .206 average, .256 wOBA, 32.1 fly ball rate and 22.0 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .202 average, .218 wOBA, 25.9 fly ball rate and 25.9 hard contact rate
This is super easy and it’s play Jacob deGrom if you’re playing cash games. It’s a borderline necessity because there’s a legitimate chance he could score 60 FanDuel points. If you don’t have him against this very poor Marlins lineup and don’t hit the cash line, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Home Run Pick – Brandon Nimmo
Indians at Cubs
Indians Probable Starter – Adam Plutko, RHP
This will only be the second start for Plutko and we’re going to skip the splits because there’s not any track record to pull from. The most important factor with Plutko is he’s given up a ton of fly balls through his entire career. If that trend from the minors follows him to the majors, he’s going to give up a ton of home runs. I want any Cubs hitter form either side of the plate that can hit the ball out of the park. The Cubs certainly don’t lack for options in that department.
Cubs Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Kyle Schwarber, Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant
Secondary Options – Willson Contreras, Ian Happ, Javier Baez
Cubs Probable Starter – Jon Lester, LHP
2.52 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 21.2 strikeout rate
Vs LHH – .200 average, .235 wOBA, 31.0 fly ball rate and 32.3 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .222 average, .315 wOBA, 40.2 fly ball rate and 35.8 hard contact rate
Lester is pitching much better than I’ve given him credit for so far this year but I don’t want anything to do with him tonight. For one thing, Cleveland has an offense that could put ups a crooked number on a lot of pitchers. I really like the top of the Indians lineup in this spot because not only will they bat righty for the most part, Francisco Lindor and Jose Ramirez can steal bases and Lester can’t stop them.
If Rajai Davis is batting ninth, you can actually do a wraparound stack of the 9-1-3 hitters that could be extremely dangerous in this spot. Even Michael Brantley in the two hole wouldn’t’t be a bad pick if you go the full four man stack.
Indians Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Frncisco Lindor, Jose Ramirez
Secondary Options – Michael Brantley, Rajai Davis
Home Run Pick – Ian Happ and Kyle Schwarber
