64. . G. Boston College. Jerome Robinson. 42. player

Finally, a ball-handler for whom the primary draw is not a pull-up 3-point shot. That means less praying that that shot can translate, less gameplanning around other weaknesses, and a better chance of NBA success. With their only pick in the 2018 draft, Detroit should be looking for two-way talent to add to their core, and Robinson fits that bill, with upside left over.

Robinson is a rocket ship of an athlete, blasting up for dunks at will and out of nowhere. That’s really the main plan of attack to which the defense must respond — it’s the jumper and driving ability that derive from his insane finishes in traffic. The best comparison (the only one of the whole mock — get ready!) I can come up with might be a version of Devin Booker that traded a little shooting efficiency for athleticism. Robinson could easily surpass his late-first, early-second draft range.

The Pistons have very little young talent they can expect to get better as the rest of the roster ages. Besides Stanley Johnson and Luke Kennard, this No. 42 pick is the best chance the team has to find a blue chip player. Getting their hands on a two-way project like Robinson is an opportunity that should thrill the Pistons.

ESPN has Robinson ranked at No. 35, while The Stepien has him all the way down at No. 60. Assuming he falls somewhere in between with the combine over now, Detroit just might have a chance at this exciting youngster.
