Welcome into the Friday edition of the FanDuel daily fantasy baseball column! We have a huge 14 game slate on tap for tonight so let’s get going!

With a big slate on tap, we won’t waste too much time. Yesterday was mostly good to us. We hit the afternoon slate with a big score of 185, no thanks to Luke Maile and Josh Harrison who both ghosted us. We were on Dylan Bundy who scored a whopping 70 points. The evening was a bit more unsteady. The main line crashed and burned with a score of just 66 but only missed cashing by about 10 points. Most people played Rick Porcello and that didn’t work out well. The tournament lineup mitigated some of the loss as it put up a 141. We’ve still hit seven of the last nine slates and looking for more tonight!

Angels at Yankees

Angels Probable Starter – Andrew Heaney, LHP

3.35 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 27.7 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .276 average, .283 wOBA, 21.1 fly ball rate and 15.0 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .221 average, .304 wOBA, 34.1 fly ball rate and 37.6 hard contact rate

Heaney is having a solid season and he’d be pretty attractive at his price point if it weren’t for the matchup and venue. The Yankees are only mid-pack in strikeouts to lefties while they rank eighth in average, second in OPS, first in ISO and second in wOBA. New York has four players with a wOBA over .400 against southpaws in Giancarlo Stanton, Tyler Austin, Gleybler Torres and Gary Sanchez.

The cheapest of the bunch is Austin and while Torres is a good play, he’s jumped to $4,300. That’s steep and there’s a lot of pitching to pay up for. If I’m going expensive, it could be Stanton.  He has just destroyed lefties so far this season. Honestly, there are almost no Yankee hitters I’m not interested in. It’s just a matter of if I can fit them.

Yankees Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Giancarlo Stanton, Gary Sanchez, Tyler Austin, Aaron Judge

Secondary Options – Gleyber Torres, Brett Gardner, Didi Gregorius

Yankees Probable Starter – Luis Severino, RHP

2.35 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 30.0 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .200 average, .264 wOBA, 30.8 fly ball rate and 37.7 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .199 average, .228 wOBA, 32.7 fly ball rate and 28.0 hard contact rate

Another slate when Severino pitches and another slate where I may not end up with him. He does offer a significant savings from other ace options and he’s in a quietly good matchup, sort of. He’s very tough on right-handed hitters, which the Angels have a ton of. The catch is the Angels only strikeout 20 percent of the time against righty pitching. That’s 27th in the league and could cap the upside for Severino. I do think he’ll get the better of the Angels in this spot but it’s hard to spend over $10,000 on a pitcher that could only strike out a handful, especially tonight.

Angels Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani

Secondary Options – None

Home Run Pick – Didi Gregorius and Gary Sanchez
