MLB DFS Picks – Standouts: May 25th
MLB DFS Picks – Standouts: May 25th
Tonight’s slate features 14 games, with Colorado (6.9), Boston (6.2), New York (5.6), and Texas (5.2), holding the best projected team totals. With high-priced pitchers like Max Scherzer, Noah Syndergaard, and Corey Kluber available, finding value will be critical for success on tonight’s slate. We’ll be aiming to highlight MLB DFS picks from the perspective of batted ball data, batter splits, line movement, and stolen base upside.
Batted Ball Data
Tyler Austin – DK $3400
While he’s been very boom or bust, Tyler Austin has been hitting the ball fairly well of late, and has seen a significant price drop on DraftKings. Austin has been as expensive as $4100 in the month of May, and he’s now $700 cheaper tonight on DraftKings. This price drop may not necessarily be warranted. In the last 15 days, his batted ball distance is up 14 feet, his exit velocity is up 3 MPH, and his hard hit percentage is down only 1%, over his yearly average.
Batter Splits
Andrew Benintendi – DK $4900
Andrew Benintendi draws an enticing matchup tonight, as he’ll face the righty, Julio Teheran. Benintendi is much better against right-handed pitching with a .358 wOBA split (.089 better than when facing a lefty) and a .193 ISO split (.126 better than when facing a lefty). Batters should get an extra boost in Boston, as it’s a warm day, with the wind blowing out at roughly 14 MPH.
Carlos Gonzalez – DK $3900
If you’re looking for cheaper exposure to Rockies batters, consider Carlos Gonzalez. Gonzalez is only $3900 on DraftKings and will be on the good side of a lefty vs. righty split. Gonzalez is much better against right-handed pitching, with a .359 wOBA split (.152 better than when facing a lefty) and a .203 ISO split (.135 better than when facing a lefty).
MLB DFS Picks – Line Movement
Giancarlo Stanton – DK $5000, Gary Sanchez – DK $4600
New York will play host to the visiting Angeles tonight, and currently sit as -240 favorites. This line has moved slightly from where it opened, with the Yankees as a -230 favorite. More importantly, the game total opened at eight runs, and is now up a full run, to a total of nine. It appears as if the wind will be blowing out at Yankee stadium, and we could see some balls leave the ball park tonight.

J.D. Martinez – DK $5200, Mitch Moreland – DK $4100
Another game that has seen significant movement on the total, is the contest between the visiting Braves and the Red Soxs. The line on the side hasn’t moved much, but like the game mentioned above, this total has also moved up a full run. Its opened with a game total of 9.5 runs, and now sits at 10.5 runs. The wind will also play a factor in this game, as it is blowing out with noticeable speed.
Stolen Base Upside
Mookie Betts – DK $5900
If you’re looking to add some stolen base upside to your lineup, consider Mookie Betts tonight. While he is the most expensive batter on the slate, he should not only benefit from the advantageous hitting conditions mentioned above, but he also has an attractive matchup on the base paths. He will face Julio Teheran, who allowed 26 stolen bases last year (2nd most) and has allowed 4 so far this year. Betts is currently tied for the 4th most stolen bases in the league, with 12.
