FanDuel fantasy MLB baseball picks for Sunday, May 27
Orioles at Rays
Orioles Probable Starter – Kevin Gausman, RHP
3.48 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 22.0 strikeout rate
Vs LHH – .229 average, .298 wOBA, 40.0 fly ball rate and 26.8 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .295 average, .345 wOBA, 27.8 fly ball rate and 36.1 hard contact rate
If you don’t count the start in Boston (which you shouldn’t), Gausman has been very effective lately and should be considered a viable alternative to the high priced pitchers. He frees up a lot of salary to spend on bats and he racked up over 40 points the last time he saw this Rays offense on the 11 of this month. That game was also in Baltimore, so Gausman sees a positive park shift in Tampa. If you want to try the Tampa bats, righties appear to be the way to go. I really don’t think that’s the way to go today. There’s plenty of other offenses in better spots.
Rays Hitters to Target
Elite Options – None
Secondary Options – Wilson Ramos, Matt Duffy
Rays Probable Starter – Sergio Romo, RHP
Tampa is continuing to annoy fantasy owners everywhere by “starting” Romo and switching over shortly thereafter to the actual pitcher. The best guess is it’ll be Austin Pruitt and righty pitchers can see some success against Baltimore. Since there’s no guarantee with who’s pitching, our focus narrows down a little bit. Manny Machado can be played no matter what and if you believe that Pruitt is the man for a longer portion of this game, Danny Valencia and Pedro Alvarez are very solid cheaper options. We’ll see how the lineups shake out as far as who’s hitting near the top of the lineup for any other options.
