Nationals at Marlins

Nationals Probable Starter – Stephen Strasburg, RHP

3.36 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 27.9 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .216 average, .288 wOBA, 29.3 fly ball rate and 25.3 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .217 average, .289 wOBA, 36.5 fly ball rate and 38.7 hard contact rate

Is today finally the day that a Nationals starter throughly dominates the Marlins lineup? Strasburg is in a great spot but so was Max Scherzer on Friday. Tanner Roark was fine and he pitched about as well as he’s capable of. The Marlins have a top 12 strikeout rate against righties and Strasburg presents a solid discount from Cole and Sale. The matchup is far superior and I wonder if he winds up being the chalk due to those factors. I’m not trying to get cute and target Marlins hitters today in any format. It’s Strasburg or bust today from this side of the game.

Marlins Hitters to Target

Elite Options – None

Secondary Options – None

Marlins Probable Starter – Elieser Hernandez, RHP

2.08 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 11.8 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .265 average, .291 wOBA, 36.7 fly ball rate and 40.0 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .313 average, .276 wOBA, 35.7 fly ball rate and 42.9 hard contact rate

I’m not going to put too much stock into the splits here since Hernandez hasn’t pitched too many innings in the majors. We’re basically going to stick to the big names here. Bryce Harper is on the slightly worse side of the splits but he’s Bryce Harper. Trea Turner is in the mix as is Juan Soto but they just feel a little pricey. I don’t have a good handle on this Washington squad. They have plenty of bats that could have a good game but the only one I feel comfortable paying for is Harper.

Nationals Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Bryce Harper

Secondary Options – Trea Turner, Mark Reynolds, Matt Adams, Juan Soto

Home Run Pick – Juan Soto
