Pittsburgh Pirates guy, 2015

2015 was a hot year for championship tattoos. My guess is that this fan bought into the Andrew McCutcheon hype a little too hard when he decided the Pittsburgh Pirates were going to be World Series champions.

The Pirates had a decent season, finishing 98-64 and earning a Wild Card berth against the young up-and-coming Cubs. Unfortunately for them, Jake Arrieta went off in that game, pitching a complete game shut out and the Pirates season was over.

This fan was probably sad, but not as sad as he is now, given how far the Pirates have dropped-off since 2015. When he got the tattoo, it was not outlandish to think that they could make the World Series, but after that season you’d think he would be looking into cover-ups, right?

Wrong. The guy doubled down, much like our Lions fan before this and went with the cross out tactic.

This was done with Sharpie, thank God. But still, they never learn. The Pirates have yet to make it back to the playoffs so this fan patiently awaits a Pirates resurgence, hopefully in a year ending with a “5.”
