Mike Kientzy, St Louis Blues fan, 2015

The story behind this tattoo is better than the tattoo itself. Local radio station 105.7 The Point in St. Louis offered to fund a new tattoo for the caller who gave the best reason as to why they deserved it.

Kientzy, a local construction worker, called in and said that he would let every player on the St. Louis Blues “bang [his] wife.” She was obviously in on the joke and this played with the radio station hosts sense of humor. Kientzy doubled down on his questionable antics when he was awarded a free Blues tattoo, opting for a 2015 St. Louis Blues Stanley Cup champions tattoo.

To Kientzy’s credit, the tattoo came shortly before the playoffs and the Blues looked incredible in the regular season. They were 51-24-7 with a plus-47 goal differential. Unfortunately for all parties involved, the Stanley Cup is an extremely difficult trophy to win. The Blues lost in round one of the playoffs to the Minnesota Wild in six games.

Kientzy does not regret the tattoo and seemed to enjoy the 15 minutes of fame he got from it. He’ll have to wait a while before he changes this one as the Blues will be stuck behind the Winnipeg Jets and Nashville Predators for the foreseeable future.
